Donations to Food Banks Can't Keep Up With Rising Costs

Donate to the Macon County Food Insecurity Fund

A recent NPR December 23, 2022 report found donations to food banks can't keep up with rising costs. Food banks and nonprofits say inflation has hurt fundraising and made it hard to handle a surge in demand.

Given the high population of food insecure people in Macon County, we are committed to providing planning and implementation grants to organizations that are finding long-term solutions to hunger.

Be part of the solution that addresses root causes of food insecurity by donating to the Macon County Food Insecurity Fund.

Established in September of 2022, the Macon County Food Insecurity Fund made its first grant in December, $10,000 to the Salvation Army of Decatur & Macon County.
