Community Foundation Awards $24,000 in Microgrant Funding to Fourteen Organizations

Macon County – Fourteen Macon County Legacy nonprofit organizations were awarded a total of $24,000 in Microgrants from The Community Foundation of Macon County (CFMC). Microgrants are targeted to help fund professional development and training opportunities for Macon County Legacy staff and board members.

“Due to budget constraints, nonprofit organizations often lack the funding to invest in professional development for staff and board members,” says CFMC President, Natalie Beck. “However, we know how valuable these opportunities are for overall organizational growth and impact. This year’s Microgrants provide opportunities that will ignite passion and allow our nonprofits to bring back best practices and new ideas for our community.”

The 2023 Microgrants recipients and individual grant awards are as follows:

• Boy Scouts, $1,400
• Children’s Museum of Illinois, $2,000
• Decatur Family YMCA, $2,000
• Decatur Parks Foundation, $1,500
• Empowerment Opportunities Center, $1,500
• Energy Assistance Foundation, $1,900
• Good Samaritan Inn, $2,000
• Habitat for Humanity, $840
• Macon County CASA, $1,500
• Mamie D. Hayes Educational Foundation, $1,500
• Northeast Community Fund, $2,000
• Old Kings Orchard, $2,000
• Ronald McDonald House Charities, $2,000
• United Way, $2,000

Since 2010, the Community Foundation of Macon County has partnered with the Lumpkin Family Foundation to award more than $100,000 in funding for professional development opportunities.
