I have been passionate about philanthropy and service for as long as I can remember. It's incredibly inspiring and rewarding to serve in a capacity where I can help communicate and shine a light on how philanthropy is transforming lives right here in our own community.

As director of communications for the Heart of Illinois Community Foundation, Rachel facilitates collaborative partnerships among our communities' nonprofits. She also leads marketing and other outreach efforts to promote fundraising and to create greater awareness of the Foundation’s resources and assistance in serving donors and nonprofits.

A Macon County native, Rachel is passionate about serving her community. She has a deep understanding of the unique needs of nonprofit organizations and most recently led successful communication, fundraising and marketing efforts for a Macon County nonprofit. Prior to that, she also led successful outreach and fundraising events for the University of Chicago Medicine Kovler Diabetes Center.

Rachel earned her associate’s degree at Richland Community College and completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communication at Millikin University and Illinois State University, respectively. In 2023, Rachel was named a Certified Fund Raising Executive, CFRE, joining over 7,700 professional around the world who hold this designation, 304 of which are in Illinois. She also earned her Certificate in Fundraising Management (CFRM) from The Fundraising School at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.

She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals East Central Illinois Chapter. She serves on the board of directors for Decatur Rotary Club No. 180 and the Children's Museum of Illinois.

Rachel lives in Mt. Zion with her husband, Nathan.
