More than $75,000 in college/university scholarships available

Macon County high school seniors: Need funding to help pay for college? Beginning Jan. 1, 2022, The Community Foundation of Macon County begins accepting online scholarship applications to help fund fall semester 2022 expenses.

Any Macon County high school senior who has been accepted at an accredited college or university is encouraged to apply. Current college students who graduated from a Macon County high school are also eligible. Only completed electronic applications will be considered. Deadline to apply is Monday, March 1, 2022. Awards will be announced in May 2022, and individual scholarship awards vary in size from $500 to $6,000.

“These annual scholarship awards are made possible through funds established at The Community Foundation of Macon County by generous donors committed to education,” says Scholarship Coordinator Kathy Carter. “Last spring, 96 students seeking higher education degrees, including 47 Macon County high school graduating seniors and 49 continuing or nontraditional college students, received a total of more than $105,000 in scholarships to help fund their dreams of earning college degrees.”

Eligible students should complete and submit the online application at www.heartofillinois.org. For more information about The Community Foundation’s scholarship program, call Carter at 217.220.1363 or 217.429.3000, or send an email to kcarter@maconcountygives.org.
