Professional Development and Training Dollars Available for Nonprofits

Macon County Legacy member organizations eligible to apply until Mar. 31

Macon County – Starting today, Macon County Legacy nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply for up to $2,000 in microgrants per organization to fund professional development programs. The application deadline is Friday, March 31, and selected nonprofit organizations will receive their individual grant awards April 13. In 2022, over $25,000 was awarded in the microgrant program.

“It’s crucial for nonprofit staff to stay on top of trends and strategies, as well as technology advancements,” said Natalie Beck, Community Foundation of Macon County president. “However, we know many nonprofits aren’t able to include professional training within their operating budgets. The microgrant program removes this financial barrier.”

The application, available at www.heartofillinois.org/microgrants, takes just a few minutes to complete. Microgrants may be used for these expenses:

  • Conference registration and associated travel costs
  • Course enrollment
  • Board development
  • Webinars
  • Workbooks/books/toolkits
  • Online resources
  • Customized training
