College Scholarship Applications Accepted through March 1

Apply today at maconcountygives.org/scholarship

Macon County high school seniors: Need help to pay for college this fall? The deadline is approaching to apply for individual scholarships of up to $6,000 to help fund fall semester 2022 college expenses. Deadline to apply is Tuesday, March 1; apply online at maconcountygives.org/scholarship.

Any Macon County high school senior who has been accepted at an accredited college or university may apply. Current college students who graduated from a Macon County high school also are eligible. Scholarship recipients will be announced in May. Last May, nearly 100 students were awarded scholarships through The Community Foundation of Macon County.

Through the years, more than 80 named scholarships have been established at The Community Foundation by generous donors. Several of the donors set up their scholarships so recipients receive awards for subsequent years in college without reapplying if they continue to meet the criteria. A successful example of this is Brandon Embry of Decatur, currently a Millikin University junior majoring in accounting. A 2019 graduate of Eisenhower High School, Brandon has received the Carl and Kathryn Brink Scholarship for three years in a row.

“The Carl and Kathryn Brink scholarship has made it possible for my family to afford to send me to Millikin,” says Brandon. “I am a first-generation student and graduating college has been a lifelong goal for me and my parents.”
